RoomShare Makeover

Welcome to Malia & Naomi's Room Tour!

My goal for their room was Simple & Feminine.

I wanted to create a relaxing space with minimal "stuff" to allow room for their imaginations.

This small, 12' x 8', Room Makeover was a LOT of work. We had to rip up the carpet, remove an old built-in wall unit, replace the baseboard trim, paint the walls and ceiling... Below are some before and after images.

BEFORE & AFTER:

Keeping this room simple, meant finding the perfect pieces. It was important for us to fill the room with natural, handmade items as much as possible.

Malia's bed is a custom build from one of our own designs. We are planning on releasing these in the beginning of 2019!

The room is FULL of DIY projects, including Naomi's Ikea Crib Hack (I will be posting more info on this DIY next week!)

Since children develop a special relationship with their "blankie", I set out to find something unique. Each of their quilts is similar, but differ slightly so I can tell them apart. Made from natural materials like linen and organic cotton, they are so soft and the quality will withstand the years of wear and tear.

Canopies are not only a beautiful addition to the room, but a necessity for us, as we have used them to sleep train the girls. We are currently using Naomi's around her bassinet in our room. Malia's was recently moved to help her transition from her crib to her big girl bed.

We added a bit of magic with this Swan Mobile. Sometimes, when something is made by hand, the maker puts a little bit of themselves into their work. I believe that Jahje adds a little bit of magic into each of her works of art. We also have one of her beautiful Cloud Mobiles in the reading nook.

Most importantly, we wanted to create an open space for the girls to spend time with one another. Malia shows Naomi her first baby toy, a handmade bear rattle, ... while Naomi hangs out on her Raft, entertained by her Play Gym.

We love Montessori style toys that encourage learning through play. This busy board allows you to swap out different toys, making it easy (and fun) to customize! Bonus: it's clutter free & tidy free, keeping the toys off the floor!

Finally, we added some artwork, and I can't think of a better piece of art!
